Monash University Publishing: Advancing knowledge

Verge 2013: Becoming

This 2013 edition marks the ninth year of Verge, and, as with every year, a large number of people have assisted in bringing the journal to fruition. First and foremost we would like to thank Dr Ali Alizadeh for his invaluable advice, guidance and calm support. We would also like to thank Professor Rae Frances, the Dean of Arts at Monash University, who continues to ensure that students have a Monash platform on which to exhibit their writing.

We are also extremely grateful to the School of English, Communications and Performance Studies, Jodie Wood and to all the staff at Monash University Publishing, including Dr Nathan Hollier and Joanne Mullins, without whom the book you hold would not exist.

Thanks must also go to our wonderful referees who enabled us to maintain the high standard of work set by previous editors. Dr Ali Alizadeh, Dr Jessica Wilkinson, Dr Chris Worth, Dr Anne Brewster, Professor Brenda Walker, Dr Tom Petsinis, Dr John Hawke, Mr Peter Blegvad, Professor Lyn McCredden, Dr Anna Poletti, Kathleen Goonan, Dr Miriyam Glazer and Dr Melinda Harvey all gave up their time to read submissions for us.

Thank you to the talented Katrina Young for her fabulous cover artwork.

Most importantly, we need to thank all the people whose writing appears in Verge 2013. Working with you has been an amazing experience and we appreciate your dedication. Both of us also wish to thank the writers who submitted work for consideration but do not appear in this anthology—it is vital for the survival of anthologies like this that people like you continue to offer your work for publication and demonstrate your commitment to creative writing. We are immensely thankful for your efforts.
